Shirin Abedinirad, an Iranian artist, created the optical illusion Mirrored Ziggurat for the Underbelly Arts Festival in Sydney to bridge today’s world and ancient history. The Ziggurat has seven levels that reflected the seven heavens. The artist want to convey the traditional Mesopotmia belief from this artistic structure. “In this installation I have been inspired by the pyramidal structure of Ziggurat, a common form of temple in ancient Mesopotamia, attempting to connect earth and sky, so humans could be nearer to god.” Abedinirad explained. According to its mirrored material, the Ziggurat will present the different reflections based on where it’s installed. Which locations do you think, it should be placed?
