What happened: This is story of Susan Matheson, a costume designer of Terminator Genisys. She had to bring the characters setting back to 80s (since The Terminator) and here come the story of how she got Nike help to produce the extinct 1984 Nike Vandal High especially for Kyle Reese.
The Story: Before she even officially enlisted into the Terminator Genisys team, she first called Nike about getting the identical Nike Vandal High which Kyle Reese worn in The Terminator in 1984. Unfortunately. Nike already stopped the production line for the Vandal and recommended her to make a new NIKEiD custom pair of Air Force 1s as a substitute but she refused. Someone also suggested to make the replica Vandal and she also refused. For the sake of footwear and fashion justice, she insisted to get the authentic identical one for Kyle Reese. After going back and forth, finally Nike ceased it regular production scheduled and produced her the 20 pairs of 1984 Nike Vandal High, all for the Terminator Genisys. Everything seemed to be fine when after a night of shooting almost half of 1984 Vandal were mysterious disappeared. Thank to her plan, she also have enough for Jai Courtney who plays Kyle Reese and stunts that keep the film rolling and finished her project.
Coincidence: Just a week before the Terminator Genisys premier, Nike announced to launch the Nike Retros the ‘Terminator’ Nike Vandal High (in the picture), Nike provided no comments about the incidence but Matheson was shocked about the released.
